Being green at the Museum

What does the Museum do to be green?
There are many ways in which we are trying to be a more sustainable Museum but here are a few of the things that we have already done:

We use Ecover cleaning products and microfibre cloths to limit the use of chemicals in the Museum.
All our paper, hand towels and loo roll are made of recycled material.
We print on both sides of our paper and re-use lots of materials for our craft activities.
We have reduced the Wattage of our lightbulbs and installed compact fluorescent bulbs and LEDs where possible.
We have adjusted our heating controls to reduce the amount of gas we use.
We recycle paper, cans, glass and plastic bottles (and encourage our visitors to help us).

What are we going to do next?
We are currently setting ourselves some waste and energy consumption reduction targets and will post these here very soon. In the meantime, we are:

Installing motion sensors in the galleries so the lights will turn off when the galleries are empty.
Installing daylight monitors to switch off lights in corridors when we can.
Undertaking a wildlife survey in our courtyard.
