The Museum
Situated in the village where Roald Dahl lived and wrote for 36 years, the Museum was created as a home for the author's unique archive (which you can see on our regular tours; see What's on for details) and to inspire a love of stories and creative writing in all our visitors. Visit length
Visitors usually stay for between one hour and 90 minutes though many stay longer, particularly if they join in one of our activities or enjoy a snack in our café. 

Events and activities
In the School holidays and at weekends we run an exciting range of workshops, events and free storytelling sessions. Free craft activities are always on offer, while our Village Trail leads you around Great Missenden to see the places that feature in the stories. Go to the What's on section for more information.

Shop and Café Twit
Our shop is a treasure-trove of books, toys, gifts and pocket-money items. You can visit our new online shop at www.roalddahlstore.com or click on the menu button on the left. Café Twit serves a family-friendly range of homemade soups, sandwiches and cakes which you can enjoy in the café or our courtyard. Please see the Café Twit section for more details.

Dogs
We are sorry, but because we have many children running around the courtyard we can only welcome assistance dogs.

The Aylesbury Roald Dahl Children's Gallery
Don't confuse this Museum with the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery in Aylesbury which uses Roald Dahl as a theme for showing the County Museum's existing collection. This venue is still open and is great for younger children.
