Revolting Recipes

For 6+ year olds:  Join Tiffany Crouch, head chef at Café Twit to make Devil's Drenchers from The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me and Crispy Wasp Stings from James and the Giant Peach.

For 10+ year olds: A behind the scenes look at our archive store which houses Roald Dahl's manuscripts and letters, with Collections manager and archivist, Jane Branfield.
FREE for Museum visitors.

Chocolate decorating

40 minute sessions between 11.15am and 3pm
For all ages: Decorate your own chocolate bar with help from local experts, The Chocolate Source. Not pre-bookable

Gipsy House Garden open day  
Wednesday 15 July
 
2pm to 5pm
Visit Roald Dahl's garden at Gipsy House.  The garden is open to raise money to support the National Garden Scheme and The Roald Dahl Foundation.  Homemade teas will be available.
£5 per adult and free for children. 

The entrance fee includes entry to One Church Street garden in Great Missenden.

Puppet-making
 
Saturday 18 July 
1pm to 2pm and 3pm to 4pm
For 5+ year olds: Make your own Roald Dahl inspired puppet to take home and tell his wonderful stories to your friends and family.

For 7+ year olds:  Make your own whizpopping rockets, erupting volcanoes and super-bouncy balls with science-whizz Ian Callaghan.

Paint your own buckswashling beaker

For 6+ years: Paint your own diddly design onto a beaker to take home and use as a toothbrush holder or a pencil pot.

Friday 24 July

For 5+ year olds:  Children's author Adam Guillain talks about his writing and performs a rich bag of crazy tales from around the world.

*Swashboggling Storytelling
Tuesday 28 July
45 minute sessions at 11.30am, 1pm and 3pm
Suitable for all ages:  Storyteller in residence Sarah Mooney has been spending weeks knee deep in Roald Dahl's revolting rhymes and filthy fables. In these workshops she will tell the stories and tales she has concocted using the archives here as inspiration.
Meet witches that turn into spiders, children that save the world, and lots and lots of chocolate.
£3 per person.

Matilda’s Marvellous Buckswashling Bingo
Wednesday 29 July
30 minute sessions at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm
Suitable for all ages:  Just like Matilda’s mum, come and try your luck at our whirlgig game and listen to extracts from Matilda. Swiggles of spliffling prizes to be won!
£1 per participant.

10:15am, 11:30am, 1pm, 2.15pm and 3.30pm
Suitable for all ages:  Get in the holiday mood by decorating your own scrumptious sandcastle with a sea of chocolate sprinkles and squiffing starfish all set on a base of white chocolate.
