By public transport

Great Missenden is served by a good train service direct from London. The village is situated on the Chiltern Railways line that runs between London Marylebone and Aylesbury. See the Chiltern Railways website for an up-to-date timetable and details of engineering works which may affect the line. Take advantage of the 2for1 ticket offer from Chiltern Railways. It’s a quick and easy walk from Great Missenden station to the Museum.

From London:

The direct service from London Marylebone takes about 45 minutes.

From Aylesbury:

Direct trains run between Aylesbury and Great Missenden and take about 15 minutes.

Carousel Buses operate between High Wycombe and Great Missenden – look for service number 41 which arrives and departs from the train station. From there it’s a 5 minute walk to the Museum.

Coaches are not permitted along the High Street. Please use the coach drop-off point near the Buryfield car park, entrance on Link Road. Download the coach instructions from the Schools section of the site for further details.

 

Under your own steam

Great Missenden is situated just off the A413.

From the M4, exit at Junction 8/9 onto the A404 towards High Wycombe.

From the M40, exit at Junction 4 onto the A4128 towards High Wycombe.

From the M25, exit at Junction 16 onto the M40 towards Oxford.

The Museum is situated on the historic High Street of Great Missenden. There is a pay and display car park on Link Road, less than 5 minutes walk away at HP16 9AE. Visit the Buckinghamshire Council website for details about parking charges. Weekend visitors may use the station car park at HP16 9AZ. If parking anywhere else in the village, please park only in designated parking spaces and be aware of any time restrictions.

If you need a taxi whilst in Great Missenden you can find Kingshill Cars at the station.

The Museum is well suited to visiting by bike. There are various national cycleways that weave through the village. You can find out more about local routes on the Sustrans website, where you can also find great tips for cycling with kids.
