Term-time weekends
Local places to eat
If you are visiting on a term-time weekend you’ll find a selection of local cafes and restaurants on our doorstep. You’re very welcome to pop-out and get food and head back to the Museum after, there’s no restriction on re-entering the Museum.
You can find details of local places to eat here, or ask our staff for details when you’re here. Many of them are just a few steps away and include family-friendly pizza places, pubs and cafes.
Picnics
Feel free to bring your own food into the Museum. You can enjoy this in our picnic room or outside in the courtyard. There’s also a big park called the Buryfield (with two playgrounds!) just a few minutes’ walk away which is perfect for picnics. Just ask a staff member to point you in the right direction.
Family friendly
High chairs are available to use in The Canny Cafe and picnic seating areas and breastfeeding is welcome throughout the site. Free tap water is available and you can re-fill your water bottles from the fountain in the courtyard. There are baby changing facilities and a buggy store nearby.
