Father Christmas will be making appearances in the Museum galleries throughout the day. Will he pose with Matilda, measure up against his favourite Roald Dahl character or take a break in Roald Dahl’s chair? One thing’s for certain, you’ll be able to come and say hello and pick a free chocolate treat. No queueing or timed tickets just spot Santa as he explores. At busy times, though, you may need to wait your turn to say hello.

Santa will be in the galleries at the following times:
  • 10.30am to 11.30am
  • 12.30pm to 1.30pm
  • 3.30pm to 4.15pm
Make the day even more festive

Join in with storytelling from one of Santa’s helpers in our Wondrous Woods room. They will be reciting takes from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and from Roald Dahl’s poem Mother Christmas.

Enjoy drop-in Christmas crafts and complete our Christmas Bingo Trail in the galleries.

Meet Santa’s elves Oompa-Loompas who’ll be around the Museum keeping everything ship-shape.

The Museum galleries are open as usual for you to explore; try dressing up, drop-in crafts and enjoy interactive activities.

  • Wonka’s Wondrous Clay Decorations at 11am, 12pm, 2pm, and 3pm

Food and drink

We’ll be serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and cakes from the Filling Station. Pick up delicious food from local suppliers, as well as some special Christmas treats.

Museum entry
  • Adult 12-month ticket: £13.95
  • Child aged 5 to 18 12-month ticket: £9.95
  • Under 5s FREE
  • Full time students 12-month ticket: £9.95
  • People who are registered disabled 12-month ticket: £9.95
  • Registered carers FREE (Must be accompanied by another ticket and be a registered carer)

A limited number of £1 Universal Credit tickets will be available each day!

Our Museum entry tickets allow you to visit the Museum for a whole 12 months, which means you can enjoy the Museum as many times as you like and make the most of our changing programme of events. If you already have a valid 12 month ticket you can visit Santa for FREE!
