Walk route is flat on pavements that might be uneven or narrow. Some paths are on unmade surfaces. There is a short uphill section. Takes about an hour. For Museum accessibility see our access page

Enjoy BSL interpreted storytelling from George’s Marvellous Medicine. This energetic rendition will cause a stir as you discover the secret medicine George is making for his Grandma. There’ll be actions and props thrown into the mix as well as some very special illustrations used in the 1985 Jackanory episode of the book. This session will be read by a Museum storyteller and BSL interpreted by Helen who is BSL Level 6 qualified.
At 11am
Head off on a BSL interpreted Marvellous Meander. Walk around the very village that inspired so many of Roald Dahl’s stories. Inspired by the magical mixture and all the animals in George’s Marvellous Medicine you’ll discover some of the secrets behind the stories. Enjoy energetic readings from the George’s Marvellous Medicine and other Roald Dahl books as you go, delivered by trained actor, Michael. This walk will be BSL interpreted by Helen who is BSL Level 6 qualified.

BSL in the galleries
While you’re here don’t miss our BSL gallery content. There are Signly markers around the Museum which display BSL interpretation on a smart phone. Simply scan the QR code on each marker to access this. There’s free WiFi in the Museum, you’ll see the password on posters throughout the site.

- We have a hearing loop in the shop at both the ticket and shop counters, Boy Gallery, Solo gallery and the Story Centre.
- You can access transcripts of audio visual presentations in the galleries.
- There are audio clips and sound effects played in the galleries which can be adjusted on request.
- Assistance dogs are welcome at the Museum.
