Beat the heat this summer and head to our cute courtyard.

Nestled amongst our interactive galleries is Great Missenden’s best-kept secret. Our private courtyard is packed with things to do — and ways to cool down this summer.

  • Splash around in our waterplay table, kept under the gazebo in hot weather.
  • Play garden games with a Roald Dahl-twist, including giant Connect 4.
  • Spot the Quentin Blake illustrations around the site.
  • Enjoy a refreshing cold drink and ice cream under the trees.

You can also head inside to explore the galleries and make LEGO creatures in our airconditioned workshop room. Or pick up a guided trail leaflet and head out of the Museum to explore the shaded woods that inspired Fantastic Mr Fox (remember to take lots of water with you – the walk before you get to the woods will be sunny!).

Our courtyard is open Thursday to Sunday year round, plus every day we’re open in the school holidays. The Filling-Station is open for food and drink on Saturdays and Sundays. Ice creams available from the shop every day!
