Book todayJoin us for an extra-special family writing workshop this summer.
You’ll be under the expert guidance of local poet Will Burns as we head out of the Museum into the local countryside that inspired Roald Dahl. As a group you’ll spend time exploring the woods and landscape working together to generate ideas and conjure up some epic creative writing though fun, family activities. By the end of the workshop you’ll have worked together to create your own family poem to treasure for years to come.
What you can expect to get out of this workshop
This is a rare opportunity for you and your kids to work with a poet to create something very special. Perfect for families who already like to dabble in creative hobbies together, but equally great for those who need a little encouragement to get the creative juices flowing. You’ll explore the woods that inspired stories such as Fantastic Mr Fox and Danny the Champion of the World and learn how to use the scenery around you to tease out ideas. World’s away from a classroom, this relaxed yet inspiring session will have you all brimming with ideas and confidence — and with lots to talk about on the way home!
This small group workshop lasts 2 hours to give you ample time to explore and create. There will be lots of opportunities for Will to input into your ideas to help you get the most out of your session. A member of the Museum’s Learning team will also be on hand to guide you and answer any Roald Dahl questions you might have.
For age 5 and up only
£25 per person (adults and children) plus Museum entry.
