To ensure that every visitor receives the warmest welcome and has an unforgettable time with us, we are seeking a passionate individual to join our team as a Visitor Operations Officer.

At the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, we are dedicated to sharing the magic of Roald Dahl’s stories with visitors from around the world. Our Museum welcomes thousands of guests each year, offering them an immersive experience filled with wonder and excitement.

Position Overview

As a Visitor Operations Officer, you will be an integral part of our daily operations, responsible for maintaining the highest standards of visitor experience and ensuring the smooth running of our Museum. Working as an integral part of our Duty Officer team, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, enjoyable, and magical environment for all our visitors

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Duty Officer, taking charge of site operations, including retail, facilities, and visitor experience, on assigned days.
  • Assist in training and supervising front-of-house staff to deliver exceptional customer service and uphold museum standards.
  • Handle ticket bookings and enquiries via phone, providing assistance and information to visitors as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the museum’s physical presentation and cleanliness throughout the day.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to visitor complaints or concerns, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Compile daily reports on site activities, including any incidents or operational challenges.
  • Assist with stock management and merchandising tasks in the museum shop, ensuring a well-presented retail environment.
  • Act as a first responder in the event of a first aid incident or site evacuation.
  • Conduct cash handling duties, including cashing up and balancing tills at the end of the day.

Interviews will take place at the Museum. Travel expenses can be claimed with evidence of payment/mileage. Please let us know if you need us to make any adjustments so you can attend an interview.

Feedback will be available for all interviewees on request. However, we cannot guarantee to give feedback to applicants who are not interviewed.
